A flower can be the clear focal point while softer colour, loose edges and negative space create movement around it. Kristina plans both parts together rather than treating “floral” and “watercolour” as separate products.

The final balance depends on the flower, placement and size. A single peony may need stronger structure, while a longer botanical branch can use more open space and softer transitions.

Planning

Size, placement and longevity

Painterly colour still needs readable structure. The tattoo should have enough room for petals, stems, focal details and softer transitions to remain distinct after healing.

Placement

Forearms, upper arms, shoulders and thighs give useful shapes for botanical movement, but the composition is adjusted to the individual body area.

Scale

Simple flowers can work smaller than layered bouquets. Kristina may simplify secondary detail or recommend more space rather than compress a complex reference.

Colour

Selective contrast and saturation help painterly work stay readable. After healing, protecting colour tattoos from UV with SPF helps reduce fading.

Before you enquire

Can you combine flowers with watercolour?

Yes. This is one of Kristina’s main directions. The flowers provide recognisable structure while softer colour can add movement and atmosphere.

Do watercolour tattoos need black outlines?

Not always. Some pieces use selective definition rather than a complete black outline. The amount depends on subject, size, placement and how much structure the composition needs.

Can you design around my favourite flowers?

Yes. Send the flower species or clear references, body placement and approximate size. If several flowers matter, note which should be the main focal point.

Can I choose an available floral design?

Yes, when it is marked Available on the Designs page. Once an original is claimed, the exact same design is not sold again.
